Looking for Life: Aboard the migrant rescue boat
2016 was the deadliest year ever for migrants trying to reach Europe. Around 5,000 people died in the Mediterranean.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 live's Lucy Grey reflects on the 12 days she spent broadcasting live from a search and rescue ship as it pulled nearly 400 people from the sea near the Libyan coast.
She met people with harrowing tales of rape and brutality and heard the story of Faith, who climbed into a dinghy on a Libyan beach 9 months pregnant.
Lucy Grey’s full programme, Looking for Life, will be broadcast on New Year's Day 2017 at 06:00.
