China bans the ivory trade
China announces a total ban on the ivory trade in a move which campaigners say could save the elephant from extinction. The ban doesn't just cover new ivory but also antique ivory - anything made from the tusks of elephants whenever they lived. One man who has long campaigned for this day is environmentalist Stanley Johnson the father of the British foreign secretary Boris Johnson. We get his reaction to the announcement.
