'Lancaster would be a very good choice for Leicester'

Ian Robertson believes Stuart Lancaster 'would be a very, very good choice' to replace Richard Cockerill at Leicester Tigers.

Leicester Tigers sacked Richard Cockerill after nearly eight years in charge at the Premiership club.

Robertson said: "If you wanted me to throw one name into the hat, who might be very keen to go to Leicester and would be a very, very good choice it would be a guy called Stuart Lancaster.

"He’s in Leinster just now but I think he would be very interested in a top club like Leicester, with the backing they have, to take over."

Cockerill has been part of Leicester's coaching staff since 2004, becoming director of rugby in 2010.

Former England head coach Stuart Lancaster is currently a senior coach at Leinster.
