Former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has said the resignation of Sir Ivan Rogers as the UK's ambassador to the EU is "a loss to the government and the country".

Mr Clegg, now the Liberal Democrats' Europe spokesman, told presenter Eddie Mair that he was concerned about the way Sir Ivan had "obviously been pushed to the margins".
