Ashbee: Hull City job 'tough' to accept for Gary Rowett
Former Hull City captain Ian Ashbee has expressed doubt over whether Gary Rowett will take over from sacked head coach Mike Phelan.
Former Birmingham City manager Rowett is the early bookmaker’s favourite to take over the post after the club - who are in the relegation zone - “parted company” with Phelan.
Ashbee, who played with Rowett at Derby County, told 5 live’s Chris Warburton that Rowett was a “young, bright guy” and a “good coach” but he wasn’t sure if he would make the move.
“I think it's a tough one for Gaz to take, to be fair. He'll want the job… but he's been linked with a few decent clubs and other clubs are [more] stable than Hull City."
