Dad: How ‘super-lucky’ sons escaped fallen drawers

The father of the twins whose lucky escape from a falling chest of drawers was captured on a video that’s gone viral has told ѿý 5 live that he feels “super lucky”.

The two-year-old twins, Brock and Bowdy Shoff from Ohio, were playing by the cabinet when it tumbled down on top of them, trapping Brock under one corner.

Speaking to Adrian Chiles, Ricky Shoff said he was fortunate that his twins were fine, and that he hopes the incident has raised awareness of the risks of some furniture.

“We’ve had a lot of people message us saying thank you for sharing. We feel super lucky that they were unscathed at all.”

Ikea responded by saying: "Ikea chests of drawers are safe when anchored to the wall as per the assembly instructions, using the tip over restraint provided with the product.” They urged customers to check their furniture, and said that anyone can get a free restraint kit if needed.
