A semi-professional footballer who mocked Bournemouth midfielder, Harry Arter about his stillborn daughter in a series of tweets says he is "totally ashamed" and will "take any action that gets given to (him)."

Alfie Barker's contract with Hitchin Town was terminated following the tweets he sent out after Bournemouth drew 3-3 against Arsenal on Tuesday. One of which read "Big hype just for a disappointment like the nine months leading up to your child's birth."

18-year-old Barker has ADHD and Autism and takes Concerta XL, a medication that should not be mixed with alcohol. He's admitted to drinking before sending the tweets, saying he was annoyed that his team, Arsenal, were losing to Bournemouth.

Bournemouth have referred the matter to the Football Association, who have contacted Barker for observations in relation to postings on social media. Barker has seven days from Thursday, 5 January to respond to the FA's request.

Barker's father, Danny, told the Phil Williams programme he found the tweets to be "despicable and disgusting" and he does not "find it funny or a bit of banter".
