Rebecca Adlington defends Kadeena Cox’s choice to compete in The Jump
Rebecca Adlington, former Olympic swimmer and competitor on reality skiing show The Jump, has defended Paralympic champion Kadeena Cox’s decision to compete in the show.
Cox’s decision to compete has seen her elite UK Sports funding suspended.
The 25-year-old, who has multiple sclerosis and won four medals at the Rio Paralympics tweeted: ‘Before judging my decisions people should imagine living life as a ticking time bomb. MS has changed my outlook on life, so I'm going to enjoy skiing.’
Adlington said: “Kadeena is probably getting more money doing The Jump than from all of her funding”.
Last year alone, seven contestants were injured in accidents including Adlington, who dislocated her shoulder, and Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle, who suffered a serious neck injury.
Other Rio medallists Jade Jones and Louis Smith are set to take part in the programme this year.
