A farewell to ice in the North Pole?
This winter the Arctic has experienced what climate scientists are calling a record-breaking heatwave - and it follows a summer during which Arctic sea ice reached the second lowest extent ever recorded by satellites.
Professor Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University thinks it will not be long before the North Pole itself lies in open water.
