On Saturday night the 蜜芽传媒鈥檚 latest talent contest Let It Shine will be broadcast. Gary Barlow has promised that this show won鈥檛 have some of the more 鈥渘egative鈥� elements of other TV talent shows where contestants are humiliated and with cruel comments from the judges.

Richard Holloway is CEO of Fremantle media UK and executive producer of The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent and Julia Reaside is a Guardian TV critic. They discuss whether talent contests need a nasty judge after all.
