Should heavier people be given lower baggage limits?
A survey from Deloitte suggests nearly 40% of us think airlines should take a passenger’s weight into consideration when setting luggage allowances.
Also, 18% of adults feel ‘angry’ that heavier people are entitled to the same baggage limit according to the poll.
Two people who have opposing views on the debate are journalist Julia Stephenson and Body Positivity Advocate Marsha Coupe.
Marsha told 5 live Drive she thinks the idea is “disrespectful.”
“We really are becoming an intolerant society, to dish out this kind of disrespect is frankly demeaning.”
However, Julia thinks it’s a good idea and says “a kilo is a kilo, whether it’s a kilo of excess baggage or a kilo of body weight.”
“The heavier the plane weighs the more fuel costs the airline must pay.”
