Allison Williams has said Tom Hanks was 'perfect' at officiating her wedding.

The actress who plays Marnie in the US comedy drama Girls told 5 live the idea came out of a conversation with Rita Wilson who is married to Hanks and plays her mum in the Lena Dunham series. She said it was Wilson who said 'you know Tom is ordained, hint, hint'.

She added it was great to have someone there who 'had the perfect instinct for reading a crowd'.

Tom Hanks said in an interview in 2015 that he paid $35 to be an Ordained Minister.
