Wayne Rooney deserves a statue alongside Bobby Charlton, George Best and Denis Law at Old Trafford after becoming Manchester United's record goalscorer, according to 5 live commentator Alan Green.

Rooney scored his 250th goal for United v Stoke to surpass the previous record held by Charlton.

"There is no praise sufficient for what Rooney has achieved for club and country," said Green.

"I'm trying to think is there sufficient room on that plinth for a fourth figure now because Rooney deserves that accolade.

"I would love to see that plinth altered," he added.
