‘Federer v Nadal final could be most important in Grand Slam history’ – Roddick
Andy Roddick, winner of the 2003 US Open, says an Australian Open final between Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal could be ‘the most important match in Grand Slam history.’
Nadal reached his first Grand Slam semi-final since 2014 with a straight sets win over Milos Raonic, while 17-time major winner Federer is also in the last four.
“The historical context of what we might see, it’s definitely the most important match in Australian Open history if it gets there, possibly in Grand Slam history,” said Roddick.
“You’d have to be a crazy human being, or related to one of the other people in the draw to not want to see it,” he added.
