One of Hong Kong's most respected figures says the "one country, two systems" form of rule is under threat, and the UK is turning a blind eye.
Anson Chan, former Hong Kong chief secretary, told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Newsnight that China is clamping down on freedoms.
"Should we all fear a midnight knock on the door?" she said, citing the alleged kidnapping by China of five booksellers, and other rights abuses.
The booksellers disappeared in 2015 and re-appeared later on the mainland.
