More than 拢500,000 of funding is needed to complete the restoration of Delapre Abbey in Northampton.

It is in addition to the extra 拢930,000 the borough council gave the project last year. It brings the total cost close to 拢8m.

The borough council's cabinet has been asked to agree to the extra funding, which could be up to 拢650,000 after unexpected delays to the project.

The abbey's opening has been put back several times, but once open it is hoped it will become a major tourist attraction.
