A group of MPs is calling on the government to delay cutting disability benefits until it clarifies how it will support those in need of extra money.
From April, the allowance is set to be reduced for new claimants from 拢102 to 拢73 per week. It means they will get the same as those on Jobseeker's Allowance. The measure is expected to save 拢450m per year by 2020-21.
Joanna Gosling spoke to Labour MP Frank Field who is chair of the Work and Pensions Select Committee, Sue Bott from Disability Rights UK, a charity which contributed to the report, Tracey Lazard from Inclusion London, a charity supporting disabled people, and Keran Bunker, who has Asperger's syndrome and is currently on the benefit which is being cut.
