Nigel Owens: 'A player left my game early to escape the police'
Top international Rugby Union referee Nigel Owens has described the moment a player left a game he was overseeing early to escape the police.
"He shook my hand, said 'thanks very much for the game ref' and ran off the field" recalled Owens, speaking to 5 live's Eleanor Oldroyd about his memorable moments as a referee.
"As he's running through the crowd, there's about six police officers chasing after him."
