An Arab woman helped inspire the Statue of Liberty
Many people know that the Statue of Liberty, in New York Harbor, wasn’t designed by an American. It was a gift from the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. But not many people know that originally, the statue was modelled on an Arab woman. Listen to New York University history professor Edward Berenson.
