Lawyer: Pie eating as serious as spot-fixing
Lawyer Steve Heath says if a bet was placed on Wayne Shaw eating a pie during a football match, it has to be “treated in the same light as spot-fixing”.
The Gambling Commission and Football Association are investigating if there was a breach of betting regulations after the 46-year-old Shaw ate a pie during Monday's FA Cup loss to Arsenal.
Sutton United have accepted the resignation of their reserve goalkeeper, but Heath, a partner at IBS Law, believes the keeper could be in serious trouble if he knew you could place a bet on eating a pie during the game.
