Lewis Hamilton: ‘F1 has a lot of catching up to do’
Three-time world champion Lewis Hamilton says Formula One ‘has a lot of catching up to do’ in comparison to other sports as a form of entertainment, as it enters a new era.
US group Liberty Media completed an $8bn (£6.4bn) takeover of the sport ahead of the start of the 2017 season, with Chase Carey becoming the new chairman.
“I’m excited for the new owners coming in,” said Hamilton.
“I really think they can bring new ideas and new ways of engaging with fans.
“Formula One is a bit outdated if you look at other sports.
“They’re further ahead in the entertainment factor.
“Formula One is catching up and it has a lot of catching up to do I think,” he added.
