You could be charged for an Uber journey you never made
If you use the taxi service Uber, you’ll know that you have to use an app downloaded onto your mobile phone. You need the app to book a cab and to pay for it – it’s a cashless system. But some Uber users have told Winifred Robinson that they’ve been charged for cab journeys they never took, sometimes for cab journeys on the other side of the world. Uber is refunding this money, but the problem was first reported a year ago, so why is it still happening? And why aren’t customers told when someone registers their card details with a different Uber app? Vishva Samani has been finding out what's going on.
