Former Manchester United defender Philip Neville revealed he went to training the day after his wedding, much to Sir Alex Ferguson's bemusement.

The 40-year-old married wife Julie in December 1999, in the middle of the Premier League season.

"He [Ferguson] said: 'Neville, what are you doing in training? You got married last night.' I said: 'You didn't give me the day off boss.'"

The discussion with Mark Chapman took place after top-flight referees Anthony Taylor and Kevin Friend reportedly went to Marbella last week for Taylor's stag do, before refereeing fixtures at the weekend.
