The title ‘free range’ is now being used to describe milk from cows guaranteed to be outdoors for a certain amount of time. Asda is the first major retailer to sell the new free range milk. Unlike eggs, there are no regulations surrounding free range milk, but the supermarket chain is stocking milk bearing a Pasture Promise logo in 109 stores. Farming Today’s Beccy Barr has been to find out what this free range milk means and whether people are buying it.
