'Smart vibrator' data breach fails to hit the spot
Sex toy maker Standard Innovation has agreed to pay customers up to 10,000 Canadian Dollars each, after their WeVibe bluetooth vibrator remotely tracked owners' use without their knowledge.
Marketed as a way to 'allow couples to keep their flame ignited - together or apart', the toy and app can allow a long-distance partner to control the device.
But it came with a number of security and privacy issues.
Ben Bland spoke to Dr Kate Devlin, a senior lecturer in computing at Goldsmiths University.
