Sir Ranulph Fiennes: I sawed off my own fingers
Explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes contracted severe frostbite on a solo attempt to walk to the North Pole. Back home, he couldn't cope with the pain, so he decided to saw off his own fingers. "We bought a Black & Decker work bench and a microsaw", he explains.
