‘My staff are worth considerably more than I can pay them’
Private care firms have cancelled contracts with nearly 100 councils across the UK due to a lack of funding. A Panorama investigation suggests one in four UK home care companies are at risk of insolvency.
Director of Cymorth Llaw, which runs home care services in North Wales, told 5 live’s Anna Foster his staff are “totally undervalued by society” and are “worth considerably more than I can pay them.”
It's estimated that at least two million more carers will be needed by 2025 in England alone.
