“Your mind finds it very difficult to accept”
Steve Voake was an eye witness on Westminster Bridge when the attack happened. He recalls a tour bus suddenly stopping and people screaming. When he went round the bus to see what happened he saw several bodies lying in the road.
Reflecting on the attack a few days later, he describes that his mind finds it very difficult to accept. "It's surreal, you just don't believe that on a beautiful spring day that something so awful can be happening".
He was in London to visit his daughter, and they were going to see a show in the evening. He thought it was important that they carried on with their plans together as a family. “My daughter just flung her arms around me and it was a lovely moment because you kind of get that sense that if you’d gone onto the right hand side of the road instead of the left, then I wouldn’t have had that opportunity”.
