Scholes: Rooney still has big role to play for England
Former England star Paul Scholes has described Wayne Rooney as a ‘sensational footballer’ and insisted he still has a big part to play for both club and country. Scholes encouraged Rooney – who hasn’t featured regularly for United recently – to win back his place at Old Trafford, even though he has a fight on his hands. ‘I don’t want him to go to another English club. I hope he will get himself back in the United team.’
Scholes also said Rooney has earned the right to decide when he quits the England and Manchester United teams and that young players still look up to him and can benefit from his vast experience and knowledge.
