Two friends from Texas went further than most to land themselves a free dessert, when they staged a fake marriage proposal in front of a restaurant full of onlookers.

17-year-old Alex Nagle pretended to go down on one knee for 19-year-old Cati Domitrovich in a video that has since gone viral.

Cati told 5 live鈥檚 Tony Livesey:

鈥淚 didn鈥檛 think it would get this big, but it鈥檚 still a really fun story and it was a really fun memory to share with my best friend.鈥�
