Former Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll has tipped Wales' Sam Warburton to captain the British and Irish Lions in New Zealand.

The Wales flanker led the Lions during their tour of Australia in 2013, a Test series they successfully won 2-1.

O'Driscoll said: "Gatland鈥檚 a big fan of Warburton, he knows what sort of captain he is but also I think Sam is the sort of character that if it didn鈥檛 go right for him and that he wasn鈥檛 selected for the Test he wouldn鈥檛 throw the toys out of the cot.

"The experience of doing it once before, how he鈥檚 currently playing and the respect that he鈥檚 held and the high esteem he鈥檚 held and I think that they all feature heavily in him being another good selection."

O'Driscoll captained the Lions the last time they toured New Zealand in 2005.

The Irishman also tipped fellow countrymen Donnacha Ryan and Sean O'Brien to feature in Gatland's squad

Gatland will confirm his squad on 19 April with the first game of the tour on 3 June.
