Neville: Fergie would have given Shaw ‘full barrels’
Former Manchester United player and coach Phil Neville thinks Jose Mourinho is giving Luke Shaw his last chance.
In less than a week, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has criticised Shaw by questioning his professionalism, commitment and focus publicly.
He then brought him on as a substitute against Everton on Tuesday night before saying that the defender had used “his body with my brain” during his 25 minutes on the pitch.
Speaking to Jonathan Overend, Neville thinks the 21-year-old is on his last chance with the manager.
When asked what former manager Alex Ferguson would have done in this situation, Neville said he thought he’d have dealt with Shaw in a similar manner and given him ‘full barrels’ but would have done it ‘behind the scenes’.
