Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon has said the Russians should be 鈥榟anging their heads in shame' over their actions in Syria.

Michael Fallon was speaking in response to the US airstrikes on Syrian airbases suspected of launching chemical weapons attacks. He told 5 live:

鈥淭he Russians should be hanging their heads in shame. Russia could have helped much earlier. Russia exercises control over the Syrian regime in a way that none of the rest of us do.

鈥淩ussia, if it had wanted to, could have helped to end this civil war much earlier.鈥�
