What’s in a name? The outrage when pubs change names
A listener in Middlesex was incensed when his local – The Case is Altered – was taken over and was about to have its unusual name dropped in favour of something new: The Barn Owl. He started a petition in order to save the pub name. Peter White finds out about the convention of pub naming and why we are so fond of our traditional pub names.
