'Nails in the headrests' - Dortmund players shaken further, hours before kick-off
Borussia Dortmund players were shaken further, hours before kick-off of their Champions League tie with Monaco, after more details emerged of the explosion near their team bus on Tuesday.
According to German journalist Freddie Röckenhaus, Dortmund's playing squad learned that nails from one of the bombs that exploded near their team bus were found in headrests whilst watching a police press conference. They played the rescheduled Champions League quarter-final with Monaco less than five hours later.
Rockenhaus revealed that Dortmund captain Marcel Schmelzer said to him, "only then we realised how far we were from total disaster, and losing lives'.
