Scotland's Conservative Party leader Ruth Davidson has voiced criticism over what she has called "deeply damaging" misinformation on the so-called rape clause.

Reforms of the welfare system which came into force in April mean child tax credits are now capped at two children.

A clause in the new rules means mothers who have a third child as a result of rape can be exempted - but would have to provide evidence to do so.

Ms Davidson told the 蜜芽传媒:"I think some of the misinformation which has been put out about this is really deeply damaging, I think it scares people.

"This is about ensuring that people in extreme circumstances are not penalised for those extreme circumstances and they are not dragged into a system that they are exempted from."
