Little Boy Blue writer: I spoke to Rhys Jones's parents for hours
The writer of the drama based on the murder of Rhys Jones has said he spoke to the boy's parents for 'hours and hours'.
Jeff Pope, who also served as producer on Little Boy Blue, said he learned things he would never have known by speaking to Steve and Melanie Jones.
He told 5 live's Nihal Arthanayake: "I didn't know that Melanie would tell me she was told she'd be arrested if she touched her son in the mortuary, when I started out in the process."
He said that when it came to writing a drama based on real life the 'key thing' was that it was 'accurate' and 'truthful' and 'reflects what happened'.
