Do voters want a window into politicians souls?
Tim Farron, the Liberal Democrat Leader, has for some time been pursued by one particular question which he has consistently failed to answer: does he or does he not think that gay sex is a sin?
A devout Christian, Mr Farron has previously stressed he does not believe being gay is a sin insisting, "One's personal faith is one's personal faith. What counts is your actions and beliefs in politics."
But now he has finally clarified his views, saying that he does not believe it to be a sin.
Harry Farley, a journalist with Christian Today says voters like to know what politicians "are like behind the scenes" but that the reaction to Tim Farron raises wider questions about whether a politician's "personal faith matters, when it does not affect their policies."
