
Phil Neville: Cristiano Ronaldo told us ‘I want to be the best footballer on the planet’
Cristiano Ronaldo told former team-mates he wanted to be the world’s best footballer, says Phil Neville, who played with the Real Madrid forward at Manchester United.
Ronaldo scored yet another Champions League hat-trick as Real beat rivals Atletico Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their semi-final.
Neville, who was at the Bernabeu on Tuesday for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 live, said: “I saw the sacrifices that he made, I saw him develop as a youngster at Manchester United.
“He told us that ‘I want to be the best footballer on the planet’.
“His drive and ability to practice every single day is just phenomenal.â€
