The Brent Delta oil platform arrived in Hartlepool this week where it will be broken up and recycled after 40 years in the North Sea. The 24,000-tonne structure was transported by the Pioneering Spirit, the world's largest ship. It was one of four platforms 100 miles off the Shetland coast extracting oil from the Brent field. The oil field is now depleted and the platforms outdated - only one is still working and all will eventually be removed.
Ritchie Bleasdale spent four years working on Delta in the early 1990s. He told Colletta Smith about his time on board as an electrician.
