Harry Redknapp says English managers don鈥檛 get the opportunities they deserve in the Premier League.

The 70-year-old, who guided Birmingham City to Championship safety on Sunday, blames the amount of foreign owners in the domestic game.

"Every time a club comes to sell, the only money that鈥檚 around is foreign money, and they come in and they want to bring people in, they鈥檝e heard of famous managers from abroad or somewhere and they go and give them the job," he said.

It is 25 years since an English manager led a side to the league title as Howard Wilkinson鈥檚 Leeds United won the old First Division.

Redknapp, who has managed five clubs in the Premier League, said of English managers: 鈥淭hey work their socks off, get their coaching badges, which takes about three years to do, and then when the jobs come along they鈥檙e never mentioned.鈥�
