Space mission to fly as close to the sun as possible
NASA has announced details of its Solar Probe Plus space mission which will fly to within six million kilometres of the sun to study its atmosphere. The probe will have be protected by a thick heat shield to guard it against the extreme heat. Dr Lucie Green, a space scientist from University College London, told Jamie Coomarasamy that the aim of the mission was to build a much better picture of how a star works.
