Steve McClaren pays tribute to Cheick Tiote
Former Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren paid tribute to Cheick Tiote, who died suddenly on Monday aged 30.
The former Magpies midfielder collapsed during training in China.
McClaren, who managed the Ivorian at both FC Twente and Newcastle, told 5 live Sport of the qualities he admired in him.
"He was the toughest player I've ever seen on the field. Some days we'd have to pull him out of training because he was such a ferocious competitor, such a winner.”
