Legendary trainer Emanuel Steward said Errol Christie should have been 鈥渙ne of Britain鈥檚 best ever鈥� fighters.

Former European middleweight title winner Christie鈥檚 death was announced on Sunday.

He had been battling lung cancer.

Steward, who ran the famous Kronk gym in Detroit, said Christie 鈥渉ad the better鈥� of sparring sessions against many high-profile fighters including Frank Tate and Milton McCrory.

Before Steward鈥檚 death in October 2012, he told 5 live boxing correspondent Mike Costello that Christie was 鈥渙ne of the best talents鈥� who ever walked into his gym.
