President Macron to introduce sweeping reforms as his party wins an absolute majority
Weeks after Emmanuel Macron became President of France, his political party has gained an absolute majority in parliament. The centrist La Republique En Marche is on course to win well over three-hundred seats. However, turn-out was projected to be a record low. Mr Macron now has the parliamentary support to push through sweeping reforms. We get the thoughts of Holger Schmieding, Chief Economist of Berenberg Bank.
Nearly a year after the British vote to leave the European Union, formal Brexit negotiations begin in Brussels on Monday. Britain's Brexit minister, David Davis, will meet the EU's chief negotiator, Michel Barnier.
