Abbott: MPs 'have questions to answer' over Grenfell fire
Shadow home secretary Diane Abbott has said “leading politicians have questions to answer” in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire in west London.
79 people have died or are missing presumed dead after the blaze which engulfed the tower block last week.
The government is under pressure to explain why calls to update fire regulations around tower blocks were ignored.
Abbott told 5 live Breakfast: “[There is] no greater responsibility for the political class than to keep people safe – if it’s found they did not listen to parliamentary committees they should consider their position.”
