
Jamie Vardy's V9 academy has its first graduate
Jamie Vardy's V9 academy has its first graduate after Danny Newton signed for League Two Stevenage from non-league Tamworth.
The 26-year-old has signed a two-year deal after scoring 29 goals last term as Tamworth finished ninth in National League North.
Newton spent a week with the V9 academy which aims discover non-league football talent and promote them to the professional game.
He told 5 live Breakfast: “It’s all moved pretty fast since the academy and I’ll be playing in league two next year.â€
Jamie Vardy contacted Newton after he heard the news: “He texted me saying he’s delighted for me and just to work hard and keep doing what I’m doing and everything will fall into place.â€
