An 8ft blue shark causes evacuation on Majorcan beach

An 8ft blue shark caused holidaymakers to evacuate a beach on Majorca after being spotted swimming in shallow water.

Describing the moment he saw the shark, eyewitness Tim Prottey-Jones said: "It was a very strange sort of eerie moment."

He added: "There was a lot of excitement more than anything."

According to the International Shark Attack File compiled by the University of Florida's Museum of Natural History, blue sharks have been responsible for 13 shark attacks since 1580, four of which were fatal.
