Mental health nurse: Amount of drugs in prison ‘uncontrollable’

A mental health prison worker has told 5 live how there is an “uncontrollable” amount of drugs going around prison. It comes as the Chief Inspector of prisons in England and Wales says a tragedy is inevitable because prisons are so unsafe.

The mental health nurse, who wishes to remain anonymous, told 5 live’s Anna Foster “the cuts that have been made to the prison service are having a massive effect on everybody.”

He also says the first priority is to “get the mobile phones out of the system” to combat drugs being ordered into prisons.
