Born in Germany to a Palestinian father and German mother, Lexi Alexander became a world karate champion when she was still a teenager. But before long she decided to leave Germany for Hollywood, where she first worked as a stuntwoman, before moving behind the camera to become an Oscar-nominated director. Now she has just written a drama series that features, unusually for American television, almost exclusively Arab characters. She spoke to Weekend from Los Angeles.
